Dear Editor
I was browsing through some websites and came across this website, and since it is about Communications and stuff i would like to write a personal experience of mine with Dhiraagu and Wataniya.

It was like a month back. My wife was pregnant with our first child and one night suddenly she was having extreme pain and i planned to take her to the hospital. I tried to call an ambulance but to my disbelief, " All Circuits are busy " song was on . My wife's sister was also with us. She was using a Wataniya Number, but i still was not able to get a simple phone call across to the hospital to get an ambulance using Dhiraagu or Wataniya even. It was like more than 5 mins before i can get through Wataniya number and get an ambulance over there.
My wife gave birth prematurely, but i would rather have had her give birth to my baby on the hospital bed rather than an ambulance bed. And all this because the two telephone companies in Maldives cannot provide a simple service. It is us who suffer.
I am not letting this go, i am hoping to take legal action against the 2 companies.
Thanks
Ahmed
ok, here is my view on this
Congratulations on having a baby and YES! are WE the poeple who have to suffer because 2 of our telecom companies are impotent? How many more poeple would have had suffered things like this because they just could "not get a connection.". I thought Dhiraagu would be better when Wataniyya comes, because they can offload more customers and provide better service to the remaining cusomers. And i thought Wataniya would be a blast, coz from what we heard and saw, we had so much high expectations. But nothing's much changed has it?

I'm no lawyer... but the General Terms and Conditions for Provision of Telecommunications Service of dhiraagu.. which "The
Customer is deemed to have accepted the Conditions and the relevant tariffs when applying for
the Services" available at
http://www.dhiraagu.com.mv/terms_conditions/index.php
states in part 11.2 that
" 11.2 Dhiraagu shall not be liable in any way to the Customer whether in contract, tort (including negligence or breach of statutory duty) or otherwise for any loss, damage or liability incurred or sustained by the Customer caused by or as a result of:
a. any failure, delay, interruption to or disruption or deficiency of any Service in the transmission or reception of any data through any Service, howsoever caused or arising; "
As i said before.. i'm no lawyer.. but dosent that imply that they are NOT responisible for these type of things?
maybe a laywer can help out :)
oh and i'll bet wataniya has similar Terms and Conditions of Use..
so i donno... like i said.. better ask a lawyer...

The commenter comments: idiot, its because you made her pregnant she had to give birth in an ambulance. She had to give birth in an ambulance all because of YOU! (*uncle sam points finger at the writer*)
congratulations writer, you are listed as one of the few ppl whose kids were given birth out of the hospital, i applaude.
But then it was unfortunate that it happned, hwever the terms and condtions clearly state that they will not be held resposible.. what the writer did was, he panicked.. hadnt he used the telephone, he could have made it in time. btw does the writer rely on his mobile for everything, (even to wipe his black fat ass) use your head ppl, not your phones. teeerios
he should have told me in advance so that i could have asked my friends not to use mobile durin those hrs. then he migh have got connected.
