hmmmmm.....VPN for what?? to access just internet? ROL starts New Year with a VPN Joke!!

Yes. ROL does not own the cable networks through which they are giving internet service. A PPTP encrypted tunnel is the most logical, and generally "compatible" way to keep our data "private" while it is on somebody else's cable network.

didn't know it was encrypted. if i set to to 'require encryption' it does not connect?

what does this mean?

mr. anonymous 2: i think u r talking BS. there is a CMTS in service and there is need for such an encrcyption or tunneling as in saying that the users are on a network owned by someone else. having the CMTS gives ROL as much options it needs in terms of security and the vpn is not needed for security as u say. my suggestion - the vpn is for "internet" and with no vpn u get "something else"... say u r on a city wide open high speed network on which u can do anything.. games, file transfer, blah. the vpn is just ur gateway to the outside world.. not security.

Even though am a ROL customer, am not aware of this VPN.

Just had a look at one of these focus vpn connections what surprised me was why focus is using unencrypted pap and chap for security!

Why not EAP?

focus is just doing something for the sake of doing it. their tunnels are neither secure nor stable. if u leave a pptp cracker running on a system connected to their network u can easily get the username/passwords in no time. especially very easily if some idiots use just PAP alone. no need for a cracker then, just a sniffer will do. u can immediately start getting free internet. there are others ways of getting free internet too but lets leave it at that for now. cheers for rol and their stupidity. even TAM has said that at their face

and as for mesco they are just going down ever since they hired that consultant of theirs (viewers of this blog will know who he is). we hear alot of hype about upcoming gaming etc but no action. lol.

for rol inquiries email nawaal@focusinfocom.com.mv

for mesco matters email nawaal@ibon.net.mv

According to ZDnet(http://news.zdnet.com/2100-1009_22-5195282.html), three-quarters of the office workers were willing to reveal their network-access passwords in exchange of a chocolate bar.i guess a coffee would work here in Male'-COFFEE HOUNDERS.

It clearly shows how easy it is to gain access to network without touching a single piece of Network Equipment. At the end of the day, no matter how much encryption and security technology you have inplemented,it is never completely secure. One can never get rid of the weakest link called Human Factor.doesnt matter how many firewalls , VPNs or encryption devices you have if your employees are willing to give it out access to systems becos these are coffee networks like candy networks because just like M&M candy, they have hard crunchy shell but soft chewy center.

The easiest way is to come right out and ask for it.

There is a sucker born every minute with a coffee hound, with more opportunities to circumvent the most secure data.

Aso is the master hacker! not laid a finger on a machine to hack. he uses vpn everyday for tnt mail tracking. thats all he knows and to talk!! if you are so serious about hacking why cant you hack a real network and they shut the fuck up? can do that? no you cant. sucks big time. ow mai gawwwd. i am a hakar ye, check the spell, i am a hacker too. wwoott.

At 11 January, 2006, Blogger asoa said...

Oh! Am I a hacker? I never knew that and never told anyone I am one. eheh. rofl.

btw, for all of you: am no hacker or whacker or cracker. am just the newbie even without the basic computer certification.

When one doesn't know how to spell Asoa, should I expect him to spell hacker? I guess not.

At 11 January, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

damn right. you guessed it. the one who doesnt know how to spell his own fecking name, then how on earth you expect to spell others your name? or your so-becalled-name? heck no. no one can. no one is expecting to.

get a clue what the real hacker means. and what a cracker means, rather than having an vpn connection to a vpn server! its better to rott your fat arse on somewhere else and fix the problem, if you are so interested in, than being part of the problem. seems to be an expert in computer security while sitting with two or three pcs and thats for you security. whoever you meet tell 'em to install zonealrm, get some cracks or keygens. voila, thats a big deal and a good security guru who runs a "blog"

to hack a network, one really dont need to have any certification ... all needed is a brain rather than gonards :)

I just moved to China 3 months ago and the firewall was very frustrating. I now use Open vpn and I can access all the US sites without problems, no blocks, no redirection to the Chinese version of the site. It has even made my connection significantly faster. I had an initial problem during setup but the 24 hour customer was very helpful and the problem was solved very quickly. My opinion is that the customer service aspect is the strongest aspect of this product, it's always on hand and they have lots of experience and are very knowledgeable.
